Wolves and Vultures
03:54
|
|||
wolves and vultures:
taxis mocking me lined outside the station
covet the security of my destination
could play it safe walk the long way
i take the short cut through the estate
shadows travel distort heart races
screwdrivers knives in these kind of places
keep my eyes peeled got no choice
in my head or did i hear a voice
moving jerkily or is it just my sight
doesn't help that there's a flicker from the streetlight
tinted windows feel the bassline
disappears off into the night
crunch underfoot sparkle broken glass
untold story of hours gone past
thoughts echo internal monologue
disturbs the silence and just wont stop
empty minds and vacant hearts
prowl the streets after dark
a bit of violence never hurt anyone
a little bit of violence never hurt anyone
a car alarm breeds only disaffection
funny how its the opposite of its intention
the police take away social responsibility
'its not my problem nothing to do with me'
grab any chance to vent frustration
power control through fear and trepidation
got the time, a cigarette, any excuse
the catalyst to trigger the fuse
strength in numbers strength to commit crime
the punishments worn as a badge of pride
the prey in sight adrenaline flowing
whats gonna happen no way of knowing
innocence will vanish, disappear
when you follow footsteps leading nowhere
so much happens when most are sleeping
its quite bizarre and it gets me thinking

Dark March
03:49
|
|||
Dark March;
revolutions a new product on the shelf
morality is hazardous to your wealth
do your actions betray your convictions
and how to justify these contradictions
big questions result in nothing but apathy
eyes and ears generate complacency
its hard to face the day don't you feel ashamed
every motive produces a cynic
optimism lies it lies dead and buried
all that glitters is bought and sold
water to wine blood and sweat to gold
whats achieved with the carrot what with the stick
who's in the shadows pulling the strings
do your actions betray your convictions
and how to justify these contradictions
have you found the most inspiring conversations
push and pull opposite directions
felt possessed by a need for possessions
and since been mocked by your own reflection
have you found the most inspiring conversations
push and pull opposite directions
been left with impatient desperation
for a meaningful direction
do we honestly see ourselves as men
time starts now and no conferring
do your actions betray your convictions
and how to justify these contradictions
selfless acts are actually selfish
have you been paying attention wise enough to notice
such a shock to be betrayed
by those who dig our graves
discontent goes unexpressed
whatever happened to disobedience
awake from sleeping with the enemy
how to stomach such a loss of dignity
this cruel seduction has left me cold
how many good intentions paved this road
do your actions betray your convictions
and how to justify these contradictions

Time Flies
04:19
|

Time Flies:
another tug of war win or lose
either way it doesn't bare thinking about
pick up your feet hurry up and go nowhere
they say a rolling stone gathers no moss
when you're stationary its hard to keep it off
problems pile high upon disappointment
chinese whispers two faces
giving the benefit of the doubt
seems a foolish gamble with hindsight
day in day out repetition
horizons shrink before my eyes
made my bed suppose i've gotta lie in it
sometimes time just flies
don't let life pass you by
forgotten how to smile
need to change this state of mind
impositions are irrelevant
only gotta answer to your conscience
draw your own lines its up to you if you cross them
the lowest standards to achieve goals
potshots are so futile
self deception seems to be your swansong
a suspicious restless mind
doubts every thought every feeling
seems natural to question whats accepted
past mistakes mould and shape
good and bad its all educational
even nothing produces a consequence
regret is for the sober and the hungover
there'll be no regret tonight

Balance of Power
03:22
|
|||
balance of power:
oh my god what the hell is wrong with me
stuck in a rut daytime tv apathy
day in day out repetition
television tunnel vision
what doesn't kill me seems to make me angry
what am i to do with all this built up fury
sit back reflect open a can
think about where i'm going think about who i am
sleeping late waking late its every single day
get my kicks courtesy of j.s.a.
no appetite for the late night news
just memory loss and punching walls
i walk the line; nihilism and purpose
who or whats gonna give me a push
step out the shower just to put on dirty clothes
ill aim so low so i can achieve my goals
there's no action between my sheets
its no wonder i'm happier in daydreams
thirst for knowledge dead in its tracks
and i see nothing wrong with that
ignore the headlines my books will rest in peace
i'm being troubled by other means

Subtle Statement
04:34
|
|||
Subtle Statement;
the character witness has vested interests
the precedents been set so whats next
they knock you off the fence then maintain your ignorance
bleeding hearts inspire dismay
double standards leave me amazed
manifesto right on cue to disregard my point of view
common sense predicts more broken promises
'not fit for purpose' their words your blood
honours bought and sold
'whiter than white' with lucre's stranglehold
whats been devised spin and lies
privilege mistrust hypocrisy disgust
doubt your sincerity at every opportunity
pied pipers on all sides
i stand all alone immune but not desensitised
i see dead people they're on the tv
still living and breathing but its just a matter of time
condemned by demand without supply
still i wont overcome greed or compassion fatigue
construct identity by acquiring commodities
proclaim innocence but you've got no alibi
menace in the air and so i struggle
to find the source its engulfing every thought
paranoia societies reflection
under observation for your own protection
when media plays its roll propaganda takes its toll
truth is subjective its down to perspective
on which side do you belong
do you remember 'things can only get better'
moral high ground built on sand
trading information prohibition for
cctv finger prints retina scans
shoot to incapacitate kicking doors in dawn raids
'tough on crime' look at yourself look at the stars and stripes
freedom terrorism a religious disguise
from generation to generation
sow and reap their tunnel vision
